Assistant Bake Master
Cabbage Island Clambakes – Boothbay Harbor, Maine
Position Summary
Cabbage Island Clambakes is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and positive individual to join our kitchen team as an Assistant Bake Master. Working alongside our Bake Master, you will help prepare and execute our traditional Downeast clambakes for thousands of guests throughout the season.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in quality and consistency, and thrives in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with preparing and cooking traditional Maine clambakes each day.
Help load and unload supplies and ingredients.
Prepare corn, potatoes, onions, lobster, and other menu items.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bake area and kitchen.
Monitor cooking times and assist with food quality and presentation.
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
Work closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure meals are ready on schedule.
Assist with evening cleanup and preparation for the following day.
Help train and support seasonal team members when needed.
Qualifications
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
Dependable and punctual.
Previous kitchen or cooking experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided.
Schedule
Seasonal position (June through Labor Day).
Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
Includes weekends and holidays.
Morning preparation and afternoon/evening cleanup responsibilities.

JOAT (Jack of All Trades) - Summer Position
Job Description
Are you a student seeking a summer job that involves working outdoors, making friends, and being an integral part of the Cabbage Island Clambakes experience? Look no further! We are currently hiring JOATs (Jacks of All Trades) to join our team. As a JOAT you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of each clambake on picturesque Cabbage Island.
Responsibilities
As a JOAT, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth execution of our clambakes. Key responsibilities include:
Hauling Lobsters and Clams: Assist in counting and moving fresh lobsters and clams.
Groundskeeping: Maintain the pristine appearance of the island by mowing lawns and keeping outdoor spaces visually appealing.
Hauling Freight: Support the logistics of our operation by helping transport necessary equipment and supplies.
Washing Trays: Ensure that serving trays are clean and ready for use during clambakes.
Pulling Seaweed: Contribute to the traditional clambake process by harvesting seaweed for the cooking process.
Washing Vegetables: Assist in preparing fresh vegetables for our culinary offerings.
Assist Bake Master: Collaborate with the Bake Master in various tasks to facilitate the clambake process.
